In this insightful interview, we talk with Mr. Do Trong Hieu, a researcher from the Northern mountainous Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute (NOMAFSI), to discuss an experiment aimed at diversifying feed sources for livestock and enhancing soil fertility in Dien Bien province. Hieu sheds light on the two main purposes of the experiment.
Firstly, it aims to address the critical need to diversify food sources for livestock in the province, especially since free grazing is no longer allowed due to extensive planting of food crops and vegetables in the rainy season. Secondly, the experiment seeks to identify suitable intercrop species for macadamia, a vital plant in Dien Bien province, which can contribute to soil improvement, erosion control, and effective weed management.
