Assessment of soil erosion risk in different cropping systems of the Inle Lake watershed area, Nyaung Shwe Township, Southern Shan State, Myanmar

This presentation assesses soil erosion risks from different cropping systems in the Inle Lake watershed, Myanmar. Using GIS and RUSLE modeling, it found that upland cultivation causes the highest soil loss, especially on barren land. Land cover changes between 1989 and 2009 worsened erosion. The study recommends improved land use management, eco-tourism, and alternative livelihoods to protect the environment and sustain local communities.
