This participatory action research (PAR) guidebook is published with the aim of practical field use for civil society organizations working on land and natural resource issues and for those interested in land and natural resources. PAR research activities can include discussing research findings with local people, letting local people choose and decide their own action processes, planning in detail and implementing methods to overcome possible conflicts, and carrying out activities up to the policy-making level based on the results achieved. It is also a method that can be used as a way to advocate for policies. However, this book only excerpts the essential content needed to skillfully apply the basic concepts, procedures, guidelines for field staff prioritizing public benefit, do's and don'ts, participatory methods when using PAR, as well as the duties of a main facilitator – and is not a comprehensive manual on PAR. Although it is not a complete guidebook on PAR, this book is written to extract only the points that should be known, followed, and considered for researchers implementing work on the ground.
