This report examines coffee farmers’ willingness to pay (WTP) for Weather-Indexed Insurance (WII) in Vietnam’s Central Highlands. The study surveyed 404 households in Dak Lak, Gia Lai, and Lam Dong using household interviews, focus group discussions, and a discrete choice experiment. Results show that droughts and excessive rainfall are major threats to coffee production, causing yield losses and income instability. Farmers preferred insurance products covering the February–April and March–May periods, especially with affordable premiums and monthly payment options. Average WTP for a product with a 20 million VND payout was about 2.46 million VND. Awareness and adoption of WII remain low, particularly among non-ACOM farmers, mainly due to limited information and training. Farmers linked to ACOM showed higher willingness to participate because of better knowledge and support services. The report recommends improving training, communication, bundled insurance products, and affordable premium structures to expand climate risk insurance adoption and strengthen resilience in Vietnam’s coffee sector.
