The Agroecology, Best Practices Handbook (2010 edition), published by Agrisud International, provides practical agroecological practices to help poor farming households in the Global South achieve greater economic and social self-reliance. By 2010, the organization was operating in 14 countries across Africa, Asia, and South America, supporting the creation of 27,500 micro family enterprises and helping 250,000 people escape poverty in a meaningful and lasting way. With the goal of emulating natural cycles to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from chemical-intensive agriculture, the handbook is scientifically organized into three clearly structured sections, allowing users to consult the content flexibly according to their needs. It progresses from explaining the fundamental principles of five core components (soil, water, crops, livestock, and landscapes), to examining six representative farming systems across different climate zones, and finally to providing detailed guidance on 29 specific agroecological practices.
