This document profiles the Siem Reap Meanchey Melon Association (MASC) and its success in mitigating climate and economic shocks for Cambodian smallholders. By introducing strategic crop diversification such as high-value melons, onions, and bell peppers and enforcing mandatory crop rotation calendars, the association prevents soil degradation while maximizing agricultural yields. Supported by CFAP-Cambodia and regional funding from the APFP-FO4A project, MASC runs a daily collection center supplying commercial buyers in Phnom Penh. Despite facing logistical bottlenecks and seed quality issues, the association operates under a three-year strategic business plan aimed at enhancing storage infrastructure, agricultural credits, and long-term farmer resilience.
