Current pesticide use behavior and potential for using bio-control agents on vegetable legumes and brassicas in Cambodia

This document presents a study on pesticide use and pest management practices in Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, focusing on yard-long beans and leafy brassicas. It reveals a heavy reliance on synthetic pesticides, especially in Cambodia, despite reported health issues among farmers. Biopesticides and other alternative methods are rarely used but show strong potential. Field trials demonstrate that biopesticide-based Integrated Pest Management (IPM) can effectively reduce pest damage and improve yields, offering a sustainable alternative to chemical pesticides. The study supports broader adoption of IPM to improve both crop health and farmer well-being in Southeast Asia.
