42% of the Cambodia’s soil land degradation and limited extension support continue to undermine agricultural productivity and profitability. A collaborative model linking public and private actors has been introduced to promote Conservation Agriculture (CA) as part of an agroecological approach for smallholder farmers. Since 2021, the Metkasekor model has engaged over 6,600 farmers, with nearly 1,000 adopting Conservation Agriculture (CA) practices such as cover cropping and minimal soil disturbance. Reported benefits include improved soil health, reduced input costs, and higher yields. However, persistent barriers such as limited access to machinery, technical support, and market opportunities which highlight the need for locally adapted approaches and long-term institutional commitment.
