This document presents an experimental project led by the Science Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) on organic winter potato farming with smallholder farmers in Hanoi, Vietnam. Conducted in 2014–2015 in Thuong Phuc village, the project focused on the entire value chain—from training to production and sales. Despite limited consumer familiarity, organic potatoes sold at triple the regular price, and farmers achieved notable profits and retained seeds for the next season. The project emphasized farmer participation, capacity building, and practical business skills. Key challenges included high labor needs, lack of national organic certification, and limited tools for smallholders.
