Louvain Coopération

Louvain Coopération, the non-governmental organization (NGO) affiliated with UCLouvain, leverages academic expertise to tackle development challenges through an integrated, partnership-based, and environmentally conscious approach. Our mission is to combat hunger, poverty, and disease by providing innovative, tailored solutions in collaboration with underprivileged communities.

Operating in nine countries across Africa, Latin America, and Asia, Louvain Coopération empowers communities to shape their own futures. Our initiatives focus on enhancing healthcare quality and accessibility, promoting food security, and fostering micro-entrepreneurship. In Belgium, we engage the university community to raise awareness about development issues and North-South relations.

Since 2004, Louvain Coopération has been active in Cambodia, addressing food and economic security, mental health, diabetes, and hypertension. We maintain long-term partnerships with local organizations and government counterparts to implement sustainable initiatives.

In 2016, we joined forces with three other French-speaking university NGOs—Eclosio, FUCID, and ULB-Coopération—to form the Uni4Coop consortium. This collaboration encompasses all projects undertaken by the four NGOs and fosters new joint actions in both the Global North and South.

Focusing on enhancing healthcare and promoting sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship. Our efforts are concentrated in the provinces of Kampong Cham, Tbong Khmum, Takeo, Battambang, and Kampong Thom, collaborating with 17 local partners to benefit over 9,000 individuals directly in 2023.
