SRD

Established on March 30, 2006, the Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) is a prominent Vietnamese non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for disadvantaged communities and promoting sustainable resource management.

As a member of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), SRD operates under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

SRD’s holistic development approach encompasses grassroots capacity building and international advocacy. The organization focuses on supporting poor and vulnerable communities, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, women, and children across Vietnam. SRD has implemented numerous projects nationwide, addressing areas such as sustainable agriculture, climate and disaster resilience, and forest law enforcement, governance, and trade (FLEGT).

In its commitment to environmental sustainability, SRD has actively participated in global initiatives. Notably, during the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Baku, Azerbaijan, Vietnam presented its updated National Adaptation Plan for 2021-2030, with a vision toward 2050.

SRD also emphasizes the importance of networking and collaboration. The organization serves as the Chair of the Steering Committee for both the Network of Vietnamese NGOs and Climate Change (VNGO&CC) and the Network of Vietnamese NGOs on FLEGT (VNGO-FLEGT). Additionally, SRD is an active member of various national and international networks, contributing to policy dialogues and advocacy efforts to promote sustainable development in Vietnam.
