MIID
The Myanmar Institute for Integrated Development (MIID) is a non-profit organization based in Yangon, Myanmar, committed to fostering sustainable development through innovative and participatory approaches. Collaborating with government institutions, communities, local CSOs/NGOs, international organizations, and technical specialists, MIID aims to strengthen capacities, governance processes, and knowledge bases to support integrated development.
MIID strives to promote meaningful participation and inclusion of ethnic communities in Myanmar’s economic, social, and political transition by advocating for a people-centered and sustainable approach to development.

Areas of Focus
-Natural Resource Management: Emphasizing environmental conservation, climate change adaptation, river and lake preservation, rural livelihoods, and agricultural value chains.
-Governance and Social Development: Focusing on participatory development planning, civil society strengthening, gender equality, social protection, social inclusion, and local governance.
-Agriculture, Food Security, and Nutrition: Enhancing agricultural practices to improve food security and nutrition.
Equality and Human Rights: Advocating for equal rights and opportunities for all individuals.
Key Projects
-Resilient Mountain Solutions in Myanmar: In partnership with the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), this project aims to enhance the resilience of communities in hilly and mountainous regions to socioeconomic and environmental changes, including climate change.
-Engaging the Local Community in Inlay Lake Conservation: Young Lake Ambassadors Programme: Launched in September 2019, this initiative trains and mobilizes young individuals to participate in the conservation of Inlay Lake.
Pathways to Economic and Political Empowerment for Ethnic Minority Women in Shan State: A 30-month research project initiated in March 2018 to understand and improve the economic and political empowerment of ethnic minority women in Shan State.
-Improving Market Opportunities for Smallholder Farmers, Especially Women, in the Pa-O Self-Administered Zone: Started in September 2017, this project focuses on enhancing market opportunities for smallholder farmers, with a particular emphasis on women, in the Pa-O Self-Administered Zone.
-Positive Nutritional Outcomes through Agriculture Extension in Chin State: Commenced in June 2016, this three-year project aims to improve nutrition and food security outcomes for rural communities in Chin State.
