Department of Agriculture (DoA)
Myanmar's agricultural sector encompasses agriculture, livestock and fishery, and forestry. The agriculture sector contributes 15% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Therefore, the agricultural sector plays a vital role in Myanmar. The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation is formulating policies and procedures to unlock favorable opportunities within the agricultural sector. Through these endeavors, high-quality agricultural and fishery products can be exported not only to the domestic market but also to international markets, thereby boosting the nation's revenue.
The Department of Agriculture, aiming to fulfill the Ministry's agricultural policies and visions, establishes its own vision, duties, objectives, policies, activities, and work processes. It is carrying out these implementations through its 15 departmental branches, along with the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory and 14 Regions and States. The organizational structure of the Department of Agriculture comprises 1,954 officer positions and 22,433 staff positions, totaling 24,387 positions.
