The workshop “Integrated Management of Weedy Rice and Field Control Solutions” was held in Can Tho City in October 2025 to address weedy rice, a serious threat that competes for nutrients and directly reduces rice yield and quality in the Mekong Delta. During the event, experts and participants agreed on an integrated approach to managing weedy rice through the adoption of integrated pest management (IPM), the use of high-quality seed sources, improved water management practices, and the responsible use of pesticides. The recommendations from the workshop will serve as a basis for the National Agricultural Extension Center to develop technical guidelines, establish demonstration models, and promote clean seed production chains to support the sustainable development of the rice sector.
